Gurnard's Head
Situated on the north coast road, very easy to find as you park opposite the Gurnard's head Hotel, right on the main road. From here walk down past the hotel and the footpath to the head can be found at the end of the lane by the row of white houses. Gurnard's Head is a less well visited landmark and a lovely walk.
The path takes you over several fields and then meets up with the coastal footpath. You can walk/scramble right out to the end of the headland or follow the coastal footpath to the left (west) for half a mile to find a rocky outcrop with views back to Gurnard's Head.
You can carry on walking for a mile or so and will come to Porthmeor Cove, rocky but with a small sandy beach at low tide. There is access to Porthmeor Cove from the main road-just park by the first cattle grid travelling west from the Gurnard's Head Hotel. Follow the little lane down into the fields. A very interesting walk with a host of old mine workings with information boards explaining what went on here.

January Storm:
The three images below were taken from a mile or so west of Porthmeor looking back along the cliffs towards Gurnards Head.

The day I took the images below there were some huge passing rain squalls. I had to take shelter for an hour behind some rocks and then suddenly the edge of the rain passed over as a completely straight line and the sun suddenly lit up the world. Just for a few minutes it was amazing light.
Below is a photo taken on a grey day from a track that takes you down to Treen Cove (locally known as Hippy Bay) on the eastern side of Gurnard's Head. To access this track walk down past the Gurnard's Head Hotel but at the bottom of the lane bear right and a rough road that serves a few properties will take you right down to the cove. There are interesting old mine workings down here and a B&B overlooking the sea. Very sheltered cove when south westerly gales are hammering the coast, even a small beach at low tide but requires a bit of scrambling to access. Also good views to the east.
Below: Park at the cattle grid 1 mile west of the Gurnard's Head Hotel and follow the lane down and across the fields to Porthmeor Cove-lovely spot for a picnic and a spot of photography.
