Porthgwarra is a superb example of fishing cove turned tourist destination but one that's not too spoilt so far. Lots of really good holiday cottages if you want to stay and a nice little cafe with garden seating.
The cove and cliffs east and west provide superb photographic opportunities and a it's a mecca for birdwatchers especially in spring and autumn when rare migrants appear in the sheltered valley, trees and gardens.
A great place for storm watching in relative safety and in the summer a great little beach for families although it shrinks as the tide comes in.
From the car park you have 3 choices.
Turn right and go up the lane, through the gate and on to the moorland and cliffs missing Gwennap Head.
Turn left and immediately on your right the coast path goes up and around Gwennap Head.
Turn left, go past the cafe and then take the coastal footpath that goes east towards Porthcurno.
