Pendeen Lighthouse has very easy access as you can park right next to it and from here you can walk almost right around it and get some interesting close views. There is a white wall marking the boundary of the grounds which causes a problem and means any low compositions are difficult. The best views of the lighthouse and headland are taken from along the coast path to the west. You need to walk 150 metres back up the road from the car park and then take the path opposite the last white house. The path goes downhill until you reach a small stream. Here you can carry on up the slope and find good views back to the light, alternatively there is a small path that follows the little stream down to the sea. On the rocks here you can look up to the lighthouse and this makes a great view especially when there are dramatic clouds behind. When a swell is running the crashing sea makes a great foreground.
Walking from the lighthouse car park down the hill to the east will take you down to Boat Cove and then around to Portheras Beach, both very fruitful places for photography.
