Porthchapel is a small cove and beach just west of Porthcurno and is popular with locals in the summer and surfers when the autumn swells arrive. If you drive past the main car park in Porthcurno you can drive up the hill to the Minack Theatre but drive past the entrance and after a few hundred yards there is a field car park on your right. Unfortunately the car park closes in winter but then you can park on the road where it is wide enough. For the fit you can walk from Porthcurno or Porthgwarra on the coastal footpath and enjoy great views on the way.
Porthchapel itself gives great photography opportunities from above and on the beach. To access the beach you have to scramble down some rocks which are slippery in the wet so be careful. Just above and to the west of the beach is a flat grassy area with a granite bench that makes a great place to settle down with a flask and cake. To the east of the beach is Wireless Point that is another good spot to visit with wonderful views. Porthcurno can get quite crowded but Porthchapel and surrounding cliffs tend to be a lot quieter.
